Clearing out a home (after a move, a sale, or a loss) is a big job, often an emotional one. A simple plan and the right dumpster on site make it manageable.
Make a Plan First
Go room by room and sort into four piles: keep, donate, sell, and toss. Set a realistic timeline and line up help. Having a dumpster in the driveway from day one keeps the “toss” pile moving instead of stacking up.
Right-Size the Dumpster
Most full-home cleanouts land in the 20–40 yard range depending on furniture and volume. (Sizes to confirm.) Not sure? Our size guide helps, or just tell us the home and we’ll size it.
Sort as You Load
- Set aside donations and anything worth selling before it hits the bin.
- Keep hazardous items (paint, chemicals, electronics) separate. They can’t go in the dumpster.
- Load heavy items low and flat, and keep the load under the fill line.
